V.O. FITNESS BELLYDANCE: {Viraj's Occidental-Oriental dance workout} Why work for your body when your body can work for you?  The first course of its kind in the country by a certified instructor (AFLCA), is one half dance class, one half dance-workout enhancing core stability, muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular capacity  -- a progressive, fun routine from head to toe entirely with oriental dance movements including social dance drills and optional handweights.  Bring if you can:  2 veggie cans/handweights.  VO1: for absolute novices - although intermediates can be challenged.  VO2: higher intensity workout with intermediate to advanced skill difficulty focused on technique.   See News Release for more info.
                     ------------------------
ET - EGYPTIAN TECHNIQUE:  oriental dance technique  for empowerment featuring but not limited to Egyptian Raks Sharki style.  Acknowledged influences:  the reknowned master instructors, Hadia and Toronto's Arabesque Academy founder Yasmina Ramzy. ***6 levels offered.
ET1 Beginner 1: slow intro to posture, isolation, body accents, hip movements, footwork, simple combinations, arms/hands, shimmies.
ET2 Beginner 2: fast review of above, travelling intro, dance combinations.
ET3 Beginner 3: arms/hands with hip movements, travelling review, intro to layered shimmies.
ET4 Intermediate 1: layered shimmies polishing, intro to finger cymbals
ET5 Intermediate 2: advanced travelling, complex combinations, some music interpretation for improv/choreog., polishing cymbal rhythms with dance.
ET6 Viraj's practices:  fast review of all + inventing novel moves and combos.
*** Pls note: with small class sizes split level teaching is very feasible.  ie. while one learns a hip circle, another can practice it with arms, yet another while shimmying, yet another with tough cymbal combos!

--------------
Can I makeup a missed class by attending another day?  Absolutely, where space allows which is nearly always.
Which do I take?  Pick between...art form/technique/culture or fun, feminine, fitness. VO classes are unique, specialized for fitness purposes (see News Release)... not just a dance class where you stop and start repeatedly without any consideration for muscles used, muscle balance, or movement analysis of fitness effects.  Some want to learn moves not burn calories... then ET is for you.
Using a language analogy... if you learn the some of the alphabet in VO fitness classes but learn it well so that you know all the words in Turkish, Arabic and Greek with those letters then in an ET dance class you learn all the alphabet but only a few words.  So, dance=more letters, less words while VO=less letter, more words.
The essential difference: While both have levels for beginners, both are terribly fun but both use the dance form in different ways.  ET classes you learn more breadth but less depth.  VO classes you learn less breadth but more depth to improve fitness in a conscious, coordinated (& certified) system.  (Viraj has his Group Exercise Specialty through the Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association.)  So, what's your preference?  Art form/technique/culture or fun, feminine, fitness?
What if I want to take both?  Ok, a second class registration is only $40.  So, 12 classes in 6 weeks for $106... I can be flexible though.
